Söhne Kräftig Italic

Söhne Kräftig Italic is a central part of the Söhne collection, a typeface family that serves as a refined homage to Akzidenz-Grotesk and the legendary signage of the New York City Subway system. Designed by Kris Sowersby of Klim Type Foundry, the typeface distills the essence of late-modernist Swiss design into a digital-first tool. The 'Kräftig' weight offers a robust, medium-bold presence, while the italic variant introduces a precise, rhythmic slant that maintains the font's characteristic neutrality and clarity.

This typeface is widely recognized for its exceptional balance between industrial functionality and contemporary elegance. By capturing the quirks and material constraints of 20th-century typography and translating them for modern displays, Söhne Kräftig Italic provides designers with a versatile tool for high-stakes branding and editorial work. It operates within the Neo-Grotesque tradition, ensuring that communication remains direct, authoritative, and visually cohesive across both print and digital environments.
