Söhne Schmal Halbfett Regular

Söhne Schmal Halbfett is a distinguished member of the Söhne collection, meticulously crafted by Kris Sowersby of the Klim Type Foundry. It represents the condensed evolution of the standard Söhne family, drawing deep inspiration from the iconic Akzidenz-Grotesk and the legendary signage of the New York City Subway system. The 'Schmal' designation indicates its narrow width, while 'Halbfett' provides a robust, semi-bold weight that commands attention without overwhelming the layout.

Historically, this typeface serves as a bridge between the analog craftsmanship of mid-century Swiss typography and the precision required for modern digital screens. Its design philosophy focuses on capturing the 'material reality' of a typeface, ensuring that the Halbfett weight maintains clarity and character even in demanding environments. It is a preferred choice for designers looking for a modern grotesque that offers both high functionality and a sophisticated aesthetic edge.
