Source Code Pro ExtraBold Italic

Source Code Pro ExtraBold Italic is a part of the Source family, Adobe's first open-source font project. Specifically designed by Paul D. Hunt, this monospaced typeface was created to provide a highly legible and functional solution for coding environments and user interfaces. As a companion to the Source Sans Pro family, it maintains visual harmony while adhering to the strict grid requirements of monospaced typography, ensuring that every character occupies the same amount of horizontal space.

The ExtraBold Italic weight and style variant is particularly unique for its high-impact presence and slanted aesthetic, which is often used to create hierarchy within technical documentation. Because it was optimized for screen rendering, it excels in text editors and terminal emulators, where clarity between similar characters—such as the number zero and the letter O—is critical for developer productivity. It is released under the SIL Open Font License, making it a staple in the global open-source community.
