Syntax LT Std UltraBlack

Syntax LT Std UltraBlack is a heavyweight variant of the iconic Syntax typeface, originally designed by Swiss typographer Hans Eduard Meier. Released through Linotype, the Syntax family is renowned as one of the first and most successful humanist sans-serifs, based on the proportions and dynamics of Renaissance serif letterforms. This UltraBlack weight transforms the elegant humanist structure into a powerful, high-impact tool for modern display usage.

The design philosophy behind Syntax LT Std UltraBlack focuses on maintaining maximum legibility and a rhythmic flow that mimics the motion of the human hand, unlike more rigid, geometric sans-serifs. Despite its massive weight, it retains open counters and distinct character shapes, making it an excellent choice for designers who need a bold typeface that still feels organic and approachable. It remains a staple in professional typography for its balance of strength and classical roots.
