TeXGyreTermes Bold Italic

TeX Gyre Termes Bold Italic is a centerpiece of the TeX Gyre project, an initiative by the GUST e-foundry to modernize and expand the standard 35 PostScript fonts. This specific typeface is based on the URW Nimbus Roman No9 L family, which is widely recognized as a high-quality clone of the iconic Times New Roman. The development focused on enhancing the character set to support a vast array of Latin diacritics and specialized symbols, ensuring its utility in complex multilingual and scientific environments.

The Bold Italic variant combines the traditional authority of a serif typeface with the dynamic energy of slanted letterforms. It is engineered to maintain exceptional legibility even in dense academic texts or small-print legal documents. Because it adheres to the GUST Font License, it has become a staple in the open-source community, providing a professional-grade typographic solution that bridges the gap between classical print heritage and modern digital publishing standards.
