The Mix Bold

The Mix Bold is a prominent member of the comprehensive Thesis superfamily, designed by the renowned Dutch typographer Luc(as) de Groot in 1994. Originally conceived as part of a massive project to create a versatile typographic system, The Mix bridges the gap between sans-serif and serif styles. It features small, discrete serifs that provide a unique "semi-serif" character, offering high legibility and a distinctive professional aesthetic that has made it a staple in corporate identity design for decades.

As the bold weight of the family, The Mix Bold is engineered for impact and clarity. Its construction is based on a humanist model, ensuring that even at heavier weights, the letterforms remain open and readable. The font became particularly famous through its extensive use in branding for major international organizations and governmental bodies, praised for its ability to convey both authority and modern accessibility. It remains one of the most successful examples of the "semi-serif" genre in modern typography.
