The Mix Extra Bold is a prominent member of the Thesis superfamilly, designed by the renowned Dutch typographer Luc(as) de Groot in 1994. This typeface is a hybrid that bridges the gap between sans-serif and serif forms, featuring subtle "semi-serif" terminals that provide a unique character and improved legibility. As part of one of the most comprehensive font systems ever created, The Mix was engineered to offer a contemporary, technical aesthetic while maintaining a humanist warmth.
The Extra Bold weight is particularly striking, offering a heavy, authoritative presence that is ideal for high-impact visual communication. Its design is characterized by low contrast and an open aperture, ensuring that it remains readable even in complex environments. Over the decades, it has become a staple for corporate branding, editorial design, and information systems, favored for its versatility and its ability to harmonize perfectly with its sister families, TheSans and TheSerif.
