The Mix Extra Bold Italic

The Mix Extra Bold Italic is a primary component of the expansive Thesis superfamily, created by the renowned Dutch type designer Lucas de Groot in 1994. Positioned as a 'semi-serif' typeface, it occupies a unique space between traditional serifs and clean sans-serifs. The design features subtle, wedge-like terminals that provide a distinct rhythm and increased legibility compared to standard sans-serifs. The Extra Bold Italic variant specifically offers a heavy, dynamic presence, combining high-impact weight with a sophisticated slant that suggests speed and authority.

Developed to handle the rigors of corporate identity and complex information design, The Mix has become a global standard for professional typography. Its humanist construction ensures that even at extreme weights and slants, the characters remain open and approachable. This specific style is frequently utilized in branding and editorial contexts where a message needs to be conveyed with strength and personality without sacrificing the clean, modern aesthetic that defines the Thesis family.
