Times NR MT Bold

Times New Roman MT Bold is a cornerstone of typography, originally commissioned by the British newspaper The Times in 1931. The project was supervised by Stanley Morison and drawn by Victor Lardent, an artist from the advertising department of the paper. It was designed to replace the newspaper's previous font, which Morison criticized for being poorly printed and visually weak. The resulting typeface was engineered for maximum legibility and space economy, allowing for more text to fit within narrow newspaper columns without sacrificing readability.

The Bold weight of this Monotype (MT) version provides a robust and authoritative presence. It retains the classic transitional serif characteristics, such as the sharp contrast between thick and thin strokes and its vertical stress. Over the decades, it has transitioned from a specialized news face to the global standard for academic, legal, and professional documentation, becoming one of the most widely recognized and utilized typefaces in the world.
