Tourney ExtraBold Regular

Tourney ExtraBold Regular is a high-octane display typeface designed by Tyler Finck of Etcetera Type Co. It draws its primary inspiration from the bold, blocky lettering commonly found on vintage athletic jerseys and sports branding. The font is characterized by its high-contrast strokes and sharp, geometric construction, which together evoke a sense of speed, power, and retro-modernity. This specific weight, ExtraBold, provides a heavy visual anchor that makes it an excellent choice for large-scale displays and impactful messaging.

Originally developed as a variable font project, Tourney has gained significant popularity in both the print and digital design worlds due to its unique aesthetic that bridges the gap between old-school collegiate style and contemporary digital design. Because it was released under the SIL Open Font License via Google Fonts, it has become a staple for designers looking for a robust, athletic font that is both versatile and highly legible. It excels in environments where energy and momentum need to be communicated through typography, such as in sports media and gaming branding.
