Trade Gothic LT Std Extended Regular

Trade Gothic LT Std Extended Regular was designed by Jackson Burke in 1948, with additional weights and styles expanded through 1960. As a cornerstone of the grotesque sans-serif genre, it quickly became a staple in the American printing industry, widely used for advertising, newspaper headlines, and industrial documentation. Unlike many other sans-serifs of its time, Trade Gothic offers a more organic and less rigid feel, giving it a distinct character that stands out in high-pressure print environments.

The Extended version of this typeface specifically provides a wider horizontal footprint, making it exceptionally effective for bold branding and display typography where space permits. Its lack of unnecessary decorative elements ensures high legibility, while its gritty, no-nonsense aesthetic makes it a favorite for corporate identities and architectural signage. Over the decades, it has maintained its relevance, often being paired with more decorative serif faces to provide a modern, professional balance.
