Univers LT Std 93 XBlk Ext Regular

Univers LT Std 93 XBlk Ext Regular is a powerhouse within the monumental Univers family, originally conceived by the legendary Swiss designer Adrian Frutiger in 1957. This specific weight, the 93 Extra Black Extended, represents the most robust and horizontally expansive iteration of the original typeface system. Developed to provide a disciplined and rational approach to sans-serif design, Univers was groundbreaking for its systematic numerical naming convention, which allowed designers to navigate weight and width variations with mathematical precision.

As part of the Neo-Grotesque movement, this font is characterized by its clean lines, lack of decorative elements, and high level of legibility even at extreme weights. The 93 Extra Black Extended is particularly notable for its massive presence and authoritative tone, making it a staple for high-impact advertising and corporate identity projects. Over decades, it has transitioned from metal type to phototypesetting and finally to digital formats under Linotype, maintaining its status as a masterpiece of 20th-century typography.
