Verlag Light Regular

Verlag was originally commissioned for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum to serve as a versatile typographic identity that reflected the institution's iconic modernist architecture. Developed by the legendary design duo Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones, the typeface was inspired by the various geometric sans serifs of the early 20th century, specifically those that bridged the gap between the rigid Bauhaus aesthetic and more elegant, humanist forms.

The Light Regular weight provides a graceful and airy feel, maintaining exceptional clarity and poise across both print and digital mediums. Its clean, geometric skeleton and balanced proportions make it a favorite for designers seeking a sophisticated alternative to more common geometric faces. Today, Verlag stands as a hallmark of professional typography, renowned for its ability to convey authority and modernism without sacrificing warmth.
