Wedding Regular

Wedding Regular (often known as Wedding Text) was originally designed by the prolific typeface designer Morris Fuller Benton for the American Type Founders (ATF) in 1901. This typeface was specifically created to provide a more legible and refined alternative to the dense, heavy blackletter faces of the 19th century. By slimming down the strokes and opening up the counters, Benton created a font that captured the essence of formal calligraphy while remaining remarkably clear for social printing applications.

The design features classic Old English characteristics, including sharp, angular terminals and decorative flourishes on the uppercase letters. Over the decades, Wedding Regular has become the industry standard for formal correspondence, surviving the transition from metal type to digital formats.
