Broadway 3D Italic

Broadway 3D Italic is a stylized variation of the iconic Broadway typeface, originally conceived in 1927 by Morris Fuller Benton for the American Type Founders. This specific variant builds upon the heavy, geometric strokes and high-contrast lines that define the Art Deco era. By adding a three-dimensional perspective and an italicized slant, the typeface creates a sense of depth and rhythmic motion that was popular in early 20th-century advertisement and cinema architecture.

The history of this font is deeply tied to the visual identity of Old Hollywood and the Jazz Age. While the original Broadway font fell out of fashion in the mid-1930s, it saw a massive resurgence during the digital design revolution. The 3D Italic version is particularly prized for its ability to evoke vintage nostalgia while providing a modern, pop-art feel, making it a staple for designers looking to recreate the glamorous atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties with a contemporary twist.
