Druk Wide Medium Italic

Druk Wide Medium Italic is an integral part of the Druk collection, a type family designed by Berton Hasebe and released through the Commercial Type foundry in 2014. This typeface draws its primary inspiration from the bold and experimental sans-serifs utilized in 20th-century graphic design, particularly the work of Dutch museum director Willem Sandberg. Druk Wide is characterized by its extreme horizontal expansion, pushing the limits of width while maintaining a rigid, structural integrity that feels both architectural and modern.

The Medium Italic weight provides a unique dynamic to the family, offering a sophisticated slant that adds motion to the already commanding presence of the extended characters. Unlike traditional extended fonts that might lose their edge in italic forms, Druk Wide Medium Italic retains its brutalist aesthetic, making it an essential tool for high-impact editorial design and branding projects that require a sense of urgency and authority.
