Ocean Sans Std Light Ext Regular

Ocean Sans Std Light Ext Regular is a refined humanist sans-serif typeface crafted by the prolific type designer Luc(as) de Groot. Developed for Monotype, the font was engineered to provide superior legibility while maintaining a contemporary, clean aesthetic. Its design is characterized by open counters and subtle strokes that hint at calligraphic origins, which prevents the typeface from feeling overly clinical or mechanical. This specific 'Light Extended' variant offers a spacious and airy rhythm, making it an excellent choice for modern design environments that value clarity and sophisticated proportions.

The history of Ocean Sans is rooted in the need for a versatile workhorse typeface that could perform across various media, from high-resolution print to digital screens. By utilizing an extended width, the font commands more horizontal space, creating a sense of luxury and authority in headlines and branding materials. It has widely been adopted by corporations and editorial designers who require a typeface that balances technical precision with a friendly, approachable tone. Whether used in small captions or large-scale signage, Ocean Sans Std Light Ext Regular remains a testament to De Groot's mastery of optical balance and functional beauty.
