City Medium Italic

City Medium Italic was designed by the renowned German typographer Georg Trump and originally released by the Berthold Type Foundry in 1930. As a prominent member of the slab-serif family, City is characterized by its rigid, square-cut forms and geometric construction, which were highly influential during the 'New Typography' movement of the early 20th century. Its architectural structure conveys a sense of stability and industrial progress.

The Medium Italic variant introduces a dynamic slant to this sturdy design, blending the authoritative presence of a slab serif with a sense of forward motion. This specific weight and style are particularly effective in editorial design and branding, where a balance of classic strength and modern sophistication is required. Over the decades, it has remained a favorite among designers seeking a typeface that commands attention without sacrificing legibility.
